Susana de Salazar Casanova was born in Lisbon. She is a professional Trainer officially certified by “Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional” (Lisbon, Portugal) and by the International Board of Certified Trainers. Since 2005 she provides training in Cross-Cultural Communication, Intercultural Communication, Protocol, Business Etiquette, Executive Image, Events Services, as well as Etiquette for Personal Assistants.
Within the scope of her seminars/conferences, she travels in order to conduct trainings abroad: in Angola, Brazil and Lebanon. She also had trainees from all the Portuguese-speaking countries and also from several European and South American countries.
She is a Business Protocol consultant for several companies and also a Secretariat Business Counselling Expert.
She is the co-author of a manual on Business Protocol and Etiquette, published in October 2015, in Lisbon, by LIDEL.
At Universidade Europeia | Laureate International Universities, she lectured in several BA Courses until September 2015 and, additionally, she lectured Protocol and Business Etiquette in Post-Graduation programs. She was also the coordinator of the postgraduation – Image, Protocol and Events Management. From September 2014 until September 2015 she was the Scientific Coordinator for Professional Skills area and the Coordinator for the undergraduate course in Secretariat. From June 2012 until August 2014, she was the Coordinator for the Secretarial and Business Communication BA.
She began her professional career in 1992, as Personal Assistant and later as Office Manager, as well as Event Organizer for several private companies in sectors such as hospitality industry, vehicles’ trade, construction & public works, information technology, healthcare, and she has also worked on a Unit Mission of the Ministry of Health (Portugal).
In 1996 she graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese and English Studies, at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal). In 2002 got her first Post-Graduation in Business Consultancy at ISLA-Lisboa (now Universidade Europeia), which contributed decisively to a new option in her professional life. In 2003 proceed these studies with the Post-Graduation in Image, Protocol and Events Services also at ISLA-Lisboa (now Universidade Europeia). In 2004 she also achieved an International Degree in Protocol and Events Services at Escuela Internacional de Protocolo (Madrid, Spain). In 2010 she achieved an International Master in Events Management, Protocol, Ceremonial and Institutional Relations, at Universidad Camilo José Cela (Madrid, Spain) in a partnership with Escuela Internacional de Protocolo (Madrid, Spain). She has a diploma in advanced studies in communication by ISCTE–IUL (Lisbon, Portugal, 2013). Also for her professional improvement and the acquisition of different perspectives, she has also participated in several training seminars in Madrid, Barcelona, Pontevedra, Berlin and Brussels.
Actually, she is a Ph.D Candidate in Communication, at ISCTE-IUL, in Lisbon – the research area is Intercultural Communication.
